Elaine Commissiong

Elaine Commissiong has worked in marketing, public relations and advertising for more than 30 years. Mrs. Commissiong is the Chairman and Executive Director of CARA (Corporate Affairs, Research and Advertising Ltd), which she founded, on May 12, 1981.

 An educator at heart, Mrs. Commissiong has also lectured for the past 18 years in Communications and Marketing Management, (including Strategic Planning and Implementation) to EMBA students, at the Mona School of Business (MSB) of the University of the West Indies, as well as in Communication at the United Theological College, (UTCWI) and Advertising and Public Relations, to the students at the UWI’s Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication.

 Over the past three years she has coached MSB students in “Presentation Skills” for the Atlanta–based Opportunity Funding Cooperation Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OFICIE) competition, at which Jamaica was the only non-USA team. On the first two occasions, her team for the first time won first prize for “Best Presentation.” She credits the use of the exercises and drills outlined in her  book, Finding Your Public Voice as being a useful tool in the training she has been able to provide these students.


Mrs. Commissiong gives of her professional expertise to her church, Webster Memorial United Church, where she has been an Elder for some three decades and is now a Lay Pastor.  Deputy Chair of Synod Committee for Strategic Planning; Alternate Trustee to the General Secretary, for the Council for World Mission (CWM).
